Bone & Pot emphasizes on serving quality food, so you'll be expecting more homemade dishes rather than frozen meatballs and seafood you'll find in most steamboat places. If you like homely steamboat, this is the place for you. That evening, the place was packed, and I had to wait a while before I get my table, however the services are prompt.
I tried their Signature Pork Bone broth (RM15.00) or you can choose to have Mix broth (RM16.00). The broth is good, has a rich taste, as it was simmered with big pork bone for over 24 hours. You can have free refill of the soup, and you're ensure that your soup is not filled with MSG like what some of the steamboat restaurants offer out there.
signature pork bone broth with corn and pork bone
mix broth - signature pork bone broth + peppercorn pork stomach broth
fresh slices of grouper (RM19)
homemade pork ball (RM6.90)
mushroom homemade pork ball (RM7.90)
Pork slices (RM11.90)
lamb slices (RM15.90)
beancurd puff with shrimp paste (RM9.90)
white beancurd (RM4.50), needle mushroom (RM5.80), & yee mee (RM2.00)
Among all the ingredients, the homemade pork ball and the beancurd puff with shrimp paste is recommended. The pork ball has a tender texture while the shrimp paste is sweet and has a springy texture. The pork and lamb slices are sliced thin, similar to those you'll get in shabu shabu restaurant. All the dishes ordered are very fresh, combined with the pork broth soup = fantastic steamboat.
There are also six different type of mushrooms, and various type of vegetables which you can choose from. After adding on the ingredients, the soup is more flavourful, taste good and goes well with noodle.
The bill comes up to about RM100 for two, almost double what you paid for a normal buffet steamboat, but you know you're getting good broth and fresh ingredients. Give this place a try if you like steamboat.
