The birthday post 2 - cont. Favola @ Le Meridien

10th August - Favola @ Le Meridien KL

Decided to give this Italian restaurant a try, since it is said to have great ambience. Well, it does has an Italian setting with a poolside view. Favola is located on the 8th floor, just beside the swimming pool. Upon arrival, we were greeted - Buonasera :)

Venetian face masks

complimentary bread - something different :)

antipasti : jumbo scallop (RM55)

Wild mushroom soup (RM30)

Potato gnochi (RM40)

Risotto rice with wagyu (RM50)

Lamb pizza (RM45)

Complimentary bread is good! They offer different variety of bread here :). The mains are average in my opinion, nothing to shout about. The scallop antipasti however is good, big juicy succulent scallops on a bed of cannellini beans. Initially, the service was attentive, however, when we were about to finish up our meal and ask for the bill, it took ages for the waitress to bring the bill.

Well, overall an average Italian meal with 'OK' service, I would expected something better since it's a 5 star dining standard.

Birthday suprise!

I opened my email one fine day :) and there lies a little suprise for me, from Nuffnang and TGV cinemas. Yeay, I've been chosen to receive four complimentary passes for any movie at TGV cinemas nationwide as part of their TGV suprise for Nuffnangers.

I collected the tickets recently from Nuffnang office at Heritage House, KL and I'll be planning for movie outings real soon.

Thank you Nuffnang..Thank you TGV cinemas. :) Big hugs!~

The birthday post

Technically, I am quarter-of-a-century old :P. Yes, I've turned 25, getting older year by year is a nightmare, coz in order to compensate that, you'll want to look younger (act cute :P), find ways to diminish fine lines, eye bag, toning cream etc etc. Tonnes and tonnes of work to do. :)

Enough of all the ramblings.

I've turned 25!

I had some sort of an eating-spree birthday this year, Ok let me list it down.
1) Ben's General Food Store @ Bangsar Village 1
2) En Giza &Watami @ Pavilion
3) Favola @ Le Meridien, KL
4) Alexis @ Gardens Mall
5) Sukiya buffet @ Pavilion

Since I went to all these places during my birthday week and most of the food are quite good, I considered all these a series of birthday celebrations :P and YEAY!, I enjoyed my birthday this year (despite turning older, I still wanna say I'm 24, somehow it reaaalllyyyy sounds nicer than 25, sigh)

5th August - Ben's General Food Store @ Bangsar Village 1

Ben's General Food Store is one of the new addition to the Big Group family which opened few months back. The shop has two portions, one is the store and the other part is the cafe. Since it is by BIG, I am all excited to give it a try.

salad bar

sweet corn & crabmet salad (RM12.90)

carnivore pizza (RM24.90)

hot chocolate (RM8.90) & starfruit juice (RM10.90)

The food there are very homely, i like the simplicity of the salad, like one of those we used to make when we're in Australia. To think of it, it tasted quite similar to wei xen's tuna and corn salad.
The pizza has a thin crust and on top it is loaded with meat, beef bacon, beef pepperoni, lamb chorizo - definitely suits a meat lover.

For dessert , I chose classic chocolate cake. It comes with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The cake is so heavenly, the chocolate is really rich, with lots and lots of chocolate fudge layering in between the oh-so-rich-and-moist cake. Yummy! I love chocolate!

The settings in Ben's General Food Store is casual, with long tables, similar to cafeteria seatings. The service is good, and I'll definitely come back for more! especially the recommended milkshakes.

7th August - En Ginza Cafe and Watami @ Pavilion

On Sunday, I went Pavilion with my mum, and I get to choose where to dine, since they have a new Tokyo Street there, I decided to try out En Ginza cafe for tea break. They served a wide variety of Japanese pastries and bread.

RM3.90 each

Forgot the name of the breads, but this one with mentai is really good.

For dinner, I went to Watami. Watami has various outlets around Japan, Singapore, China, Taiwan and finally in Malaysia.

salmon sushi (RM7.90)

sapporo ramen (rm17.90)

chicken katsu (RM17.90)

The food are just average, nothing to shout about. However, I'll come back to try more of their dishes, expecially the pizza.

Whisk at Empire Shopping Gallery, Subang Jaya

Empire Shopping Gallery in Subang is one of the new addition the malls family in Klang Valley. This mall has a variety of dining places, of all I like Whisk, a small shop which serves good coffee, yummy cakes and snacks. Whisk has limited seats so be prepare to wait during tea time.

red velvet cake (RM11.90)

chicken puff (RM7.50)

mini chocolate macaron (RM2.00)

Belvoir orange jasmine tea (RM9.90)

Toffee nut latte (RM13.00)

Whisk is a good place to sit and have a chat after your legs got tired from shopping. :) The cakes are good, however the toffee nut latte is mild, so for those who like strong coffee, you can go for double shot of espresso in your coffee. I like the chicken puff.. loves the texture of the pastry which is not too thick.

Till then, happy shopping!~

Betty's Midwest Kitchen, Aman Suria

After my weekly swimming session at the Sunway Lagoon Club, I usually will crave for some nice food. (Wasted all the effort :P) Anyway here I am in one of the sought-after porkie place.

Betty's Midwest Kitchen specializes in American Midwest Cuisine, and nestled in a homely and cozy set up.

Welcome~

Orders for the day are:

Pulled Pork Burger (RM12.00)

The pork burger is one of the specialities, served with fries and coleslaw. The meat is tender and in quite a generous portion Unlike commercial pork burger out there which uses minced pork, this burger uses pulled pork, therefore it has less fat. Pulled pork is usually shoulder cut, cooked using low heat as explained in wiki here.

Baby back rib (RM32.50)

The ribs are marinated in a special sauce and properly grilled to perfect tenderness and packed with lots of flavour. A very good dish - that's how I describe it :) Lovely, nom nom.

Pork chop with country gravy (RM23.00)

The pork chop can be served in three different type of sauce, apple sauce, orange cream or classic country gravy. I go for something safe. The pork chop is pan fried, and I like its not so oily texture. Taste wise it is ordinary, and has nothing to shout about.

As for drinks, we ordered the root beer float (RM6.50) and the refreshing lemonade (RM2.50). Overall a very satisfying dinner, and I will definitely come back for more. Since the place is quite small, with limited seats, it is best to make reservations on weekends.

I wanna try the 'dog food', which is fries with gravy and topped with cheese. It is one of the recommended dish, a good choice for finger food.

Special of the week

Pigs

more cute pigs!

Updated: I tried the Dog Food. It came in a metal-like plate (like a pet bowl :)). It's good! and it's so cheesy, but this is best for sharing as it can be quite filling. See the yummy cheese?
